Triangle Fraternity Privacy Policy

Introduction

To insure our members privacy and with respect to protecting the confidentiality of personal information that we may collect in the course of business, Triangle Fraternity and all its affiliates (Affiliates, although may be legally separate entities in this policy, are defined as local chapters, Building Loan Fund, The Triangle Education Foundation, and alumni chapters) has adopted the following policy.

This Privacy Policy summarizes what information Triangle collects about its members, the limited times it may be shared with others and how Triangle will protect the privacy of its members.

Personal Information Collected

In order to maintain a complete member database and conduct the business operations of Triangle, which include, but are not limited to, regular mailings and updates on Triangle activities, dues solicitations, local and national fund raising efforts, and other such efforts as deemed necessary by the Triangle Fraternity National Council or its affiliates.

During the course of normal business operations personal information will be collected from the following sources:

  • Information Triangle receives from its members when they complete the required forms to pledge and then become an active member of Triangle Fraternity.  Such information includes, for instance, name, address, social security number, birthday, email, parental information, and phone.
  • Information about a member’s transactions with Triangle, its affiliates or others.  Such information includes, for instance, donation history, dues history, event history, Triangle related purchases, and award program details.
  • Information a member chooses to share with Triangle via national or local volunteer, staff or agent. Such information includes company biographies, articles for publication by Triangle, and personal interviews.

Sharing of Personal Information

Triangle does not share any personal information about its members with anyone other than its affiliates, except as required by law.

Triangle may disclose a member’s personal information to its affiliates, but only if such disclosure does not violate any rule of professional ethics.  Triangle’s affiliates may be separate companies, but are directly affiliated with the business of Triangle Fraternity, such as local chapters, alumni groups, the Building Loan Fund, and the Triangle Education Foundation.

Triangle may also share information it collects, as described above, to nonaffiliated companies that perform support and marketing services on Triangle’s behalf (such as data processing, mailings, telemarketing, and member benefit products).  For our members' protection, Triangle’s agreements with these companies require that they also keep its members personal information in the strictest of confidence, just as Triangle does.

Protecting Our Members’ Personal Information

Keeping Triangle’s members' information confidential and secure is of utmost importance. Triangle follows standard industry practices to actively protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of its members’ personal information.  Triangle also maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to guard its members’ personal information.  In so doing, Triangle restricts access to its members’ personal information to those employees, volunteers and affiliates who need to know that information to provide products or services to its members as mentioned above.  In turn, those entities are legally and contractually bound to maintain the privacy of any personal information shared with them.  Additionally, Triangle employees and volunteers are bound by internal confidentiality policies and are subject to disciplinary action for any policy violations.

Protecting Former Members' Personal Information

Should a member become inactive or expelled, Triangle will continue to protect the confidentiality and security of its former members’ personal information in accordance with this privacy policy.

Right to View Members' Personal Information

Triangle members at any time should be allowed to view, update, and correct their personal information at any time.  Members may view at any time their donation records and donor file.  They may request clarification and documentation of tax-deductible gifts, but changes to these records will only be done in accordance with current applicable law.
